About half a year ago, I released Dippod — an AI flashcard and spaced repetition learning app. Today I'm announcing an important decision: we are winding down the current flashcard product, and the existing Dippod app will no longer be available in the future. The Dippod name will live on, carried by a brand-new product that is already in the works.
Why this decision
Let me be honest: since launch, Dippod hasn't reached enough users to grow into a sustainable product. I still like what we built, and I'm proud of it — but several months of data forced me to admit two things.
First, the value of flashcards and spaced repetition only pays off through consistent review, and there are far more people who want to learn than people who can keep up a review habit. That's not a failing of our users — it's baked into the shape of the product itself.
Second, in the AI era, a single-point feature like "AI generates flashcards for you" is hard-pressed to sustain an independent product over the long run. General AI assistants can do a passable version of it in passing, and the part that made Dippod special was too easy to overlook.
Rather than slowly burning out in place, I'd rather pour my energy into a direction I have real conviction about. That means making the hard call to say goodbye to the current product.
What this means for you
- The existing app will keep running normally for a while — nothing is shutting down today.
- We will announce the exact end-of-service date at least 30 days in advance.
- A data export feature is coming soon, so you can take your Pods and cards with you.
- If you have a paid subscription, we will contact you individually by email about cancellation and refund arrangements. You won't pay a cent for a product that's winding down.
What comes next
I can't share too many details yet, but here is what I can say: the new product is still about information and learning. We believe AI is changing how each of us collects and digests information — and this time, we want to build something that keeps giving you value without asking you to "stay disciplined."
The Dippod name stays. Same maker, same care, new direction.

Finally, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who used Dippod and sent us feedback. This chapter is coming to a close, but everything we learned — and everything you told us — is coming along into the next one.
